Wear & Care

Wearing colored contact lenses for the first time can be daunting, but with a little bit of practice and know-how, it becomes second nature in no time. Whether you're a first-time wearer or looking to refresh your skills, here's a step-by-step guide on how to properly put in, take care of, and remove your colored contact lenses.

First things first, find a clean and well-lit space to work in, ideally with a mirror and table. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly and dry them with a clean towel before handling your lenses. Before your initial use, it's crucial to soak the lenses in a dedicated contact lens care solution for at least 6 hours. Next, remove your lenses from the box and put some cleaning solution on them.

It’s showtime! Hold the lens between your thumb and index finger, making sure that the edges are pointing upwards, and then place the lens gently on your eye.

Pull down your lower eyelid with your index finger and make sure to blink before placing the lens on your eye, this will help the lens to sit comfortably on your cornea.

To ensure the longevity of your lenses and to keep your eyes healthy and safe, it's important to take proper care of your lenses. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly before handling your lenses, and only clean them with lens solution, not running water.

Clean your lenses in the evening, after removal and store them in the appropriate holder filled with fresh solution, also change the solution in the lens holder every evening and the lens holder every three months.

When removing the lenses, get back in front of a mirror and wash, rinse, and dry your hands thoroughly. Gently slide the lens to the white part of your eye and pinch it off with the soft parts of your fingers. Clean the lenses one last time with contact lens solution before placing them in their box, and add some fresh solution to the box before closing the lid to keep the colored contact lenses and their color fresh.

A few important tips to keep in mind:
  • Before the first time wearing, please soak the lenses in a dedicated contact lens solution for at least 6 hours
  • When wearing contact lenses, it is essential to distinguish between the correct and reverse sides. Place the contact lens on your fingertip or a tool, and hold it up to the light. If the edges of the contact lens are flipping outward, it indicates that the lens is reversed. If the edges are smooth and bowl-shaped, it means that it is the correct side for wearing
  • Always wash your hands before wearing, removing, or handling your contact lenses
  • Don't share colored contact lenses with other people
  • Make sure to wear them within their expiration date and do not use them over their recommended period
  • Put them on before doing your makeup and do not forget to take them off before you go to sleep and before removing the makeup
  • If you experience any allergies or discomfort, make sure to contact your optometrist
Wearing colored contact lenses can be a fun and exciting way to switch up your look and express your unique style, just make sure to take proper care of them and to keep your eyes safe and healthy at all times.
